Enrichment
Another significant component of the Averroes model is student enrichment. This is everything else we offer as a school to build our community of learners. We support the enrichment of each student on an individual level as well as a community level.
Averroes’s Workshops class acts as the platform for students to learn about the work local organizations are doing in the community, while also obtaining real world skills and experience. Classes integrate AHS schoolwide learning objectives with community service and put what they learn into action by volunteering in local community organizations, including: Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Zaytuna College, Our Three Winners, Tawasaw, Islamic Networks Group (ING), American Muslim Community Foundation (AMCF), and others.
Student clubs including Student Council, Literacy Club, Amnesty International Club, and Model UN are student driven with a faculty advisor.
We also encourage all students to participate in athletics, including girls’ and boys’ basketball and girls and boys soccer.
